Successful Blogs Require Long Term Goals
Anyone with average intelligence, at least a basic grasp of blogging skills, and a willingness to work hard can publish a successful blog but, like any business, bloggers intending to derive income from their blogs should begin their blog with a plan or long term goal in mind.
Do you know your intended audience? What subject will you discuss, in general? Does your subject have popular appeal? These are all questions you should address when formulating your blogging goals or plan.
Begin your blog with a realistic plan and stick with it. A successful blog requires frequent updates of quality, unique content to encourage return visitors. While it’s not necessary to post everyday, a weekly post is often a good choice and not so demanding that you’ll feel pressured.
Frequent posts will do you no good, however, if no one knows about your blog. A good rule of thumb is to make fewer posts and promote your site more, especially in the beginning. Build your readership through link exchanges, joining blogging communities and forums (such as www.webloggers.org), and syndicating your blog feeds. You can also use Twitter to tweet your posts to further promote your blog with good results.
Often a beginning blogger will have unrealistic expections regarding how fast their readership will grow and when those expectations aren’t met, they quickly lose interest. Be prepared to stick with your blogging plan for the “long haul” to ensure success.
Remember, if you have a plan, work hard, and think smart, your blog will be successful!
